A taste of Orwells at lunchtime

We recently shared Orwells’ newly launched lunch menu, which Experience Henley were invited to try. As ever, flavour and presentation come through with real impact and absolutely no compromises. Orwells has long been known for exceptional cooking, from its refined à la carte to its outstanding tasting menus, so this new lunch offering is a brilliant way to enjoy their food at an accessible price point. The quality of ingredients and the generosity of the dishes remain exactly as you’d expect.
Whether you’re planning a work lunch, a catch‑up with friends or simply fancy a midweek treat, this menu fits the bill. Ryan and Liam explain that working with the seasons allows them to pass genuine value on to the customer. Alongside sourcing seasonal produce from trusted suppliers, they are also avid foragers, meaning there is always something beautifully local and in tune with the time of year.
At £29 for two courses or £34 for three, including homemade sourdough with butter and honey from their own bees plus an amuse bouche, it offers remarkable value. The menu is available Wednesday to Saturday.

We enjoyed confit duck with courgette penne, salsa verde and buckwheat, and BBQ Cornish octopus with romesco, sweetcorn and sea herbs. Mains included Lockerbie lamb loin with roasted carrot, butter beans and lovage, and Brixham sea bream with crushed potatoes, sea beet and champagne velouté. For dessert, the chocolate ganache with cherries and aerated chocolate was divine, while the Nettlebed Creamery’s Witheridge in Hay cheese with chutney and crackers was as good as always.
If you can’t make lunch they have also launched their pub classics on Weds & Thurs evenings 7-9pm…think Scotch Eggs, Prawn Cocktails and venison pie.
We think we may move in!!
