Wicker: The Raunchy Folklore Romance You Didn’t Know You Needed
Get yourselves down to the Regal Picturehouse for Wicker from this Friday 30th October for this wonderfully weird folklore tale laced with lust, based on Ursula Willis-Jones’s short story The Wicker Husband.
The narrative follows a smelly, ostracised 19th-century spinster fisherwoman (Olivia Colman) ignored and ridiculed by the townspeople. Fed up with her small-minded neighbours she commissions the towns Basket Weaver (Peter Dinklage) to build her a sentient husband made entirely out of twigs (Alexander Skarsgård).
What follows is a delightfully romantic tale of townsfolk obsessed with this hot new husband of the Fisherwoman, whether man or woman, full of laugh out loud jealousy from the husbands and desire from the wives.
Sexy, strange, funny and raunchy as well as beautifully shot, it gets a thumbs up from Experience Henley and if you don’t agree…well “lick my worm”!
