Over the last couple of years we have all come to realise how much we need to look after ourselves mentally and how good it felt to be in the great outdoors with long walks to keep us fit and healthy during lockdown.

Introducing Walk Works. It was an idea that was nurtured through a fifteen year friendship of Liz and Caroline. They met when they first had children and fast became firm friends. They share a love of being outdoors and especially love walking, discovering new routes and learning about the local area.

During lockdown they walked regularly together and would always be keen to show each other new routes they’d found. They realised that others might like to share and learn these routes, and so Walk Works was conceived.

Walk Works are one or two hour weekly walks in the countryside with two experienced guides where there is no need for maps/apps with varied routes around South Oxfordshire, Thames Valley, The Chilterns and getting to meet new people. If you love walking and and prefer not to go alone, this sounds like to perfect social activity to do, especially now that spring is in the air.

The Walks are every Thursday morning at 9.30am, all walks are risk assessed, and details of the length and terrain are published weekly so walkers can decide if it’s for them or not.

Caroline Gratrix of Walk Works says, “there are a great bunch of friendly walkers that come along, and many friendships have formed along the way. If you’re group walking curious, do give Walk Works a try.”
