Henley’s has it’s upcoming Henley Jazz Festival, has had rave nights in the Town Hall, now Henley is moving into the soul, funk and disco groove as Henley Soul Room arrives at The Duck this autumn.

Launching on Saturday 31st October, Henley Soul Room is taking up a monthly residency at The Duck and according to founder and local resident Nik Goodman, bringing together classic tracks, dancefloor favourites, forgotten gems and soulful grooves, all played from original vinyl.

As a former Programme Director of Capital FM and Head of Music at Virgin Radio, Goodman thought it was about time he put some of that experience to use a little closer to home. Running from 7pm-12am the soul nights will be free to enter, built around a simple idea of putting a sound track together to create a great atmosphere by Nik bringing his decades of radio and programming experience to the decks.

He says, “I’ve always thought Henley should have a night where the music really matters. Not a club night, not a tribute night and not something trying too hard – just a brilliant room, great people and a few hours of fantastic records.

“You can expect everything from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin to Chic, Sister Sledge, Chaka Khan, Prince and Earth, Wind & Fire. There’ll be big soul records, disco classics, funky grooves and plenty of things you might not have heard for years.

“Henley has lots of places to have a nice drink. But we want to give people a destination and reason to come out.”

Henley Soul Room will return to The Duck every month. Further dates, music and announcements will be revealed through Henley Soul Room and The Duck’s social media channels.
