Something Made in Henley for Father’s Day

Can it really be Father’s Day coming around already? It was certainly a very different Mother’s Day back in March. And here we are in June finding ourselves in similar circumstances but that doesn’t mean that you can’t treat your ol’ Pa to something special on Sunday 21st June. Take a gander at what we have put together so that you can surprise your Dad with something that he will love, no matter how difficult! And the best thing about it is that it’s ALL LOCAL!

The Perfect Gentlemen’s G&T

Mr Hobbs suggests you treat your dad this Father’s Day by pouring a generous slug of Henley gin over plenty of good quality ice, pair it with a premium tonic water and finish with a curl of orange peel to garnish.

Mr Hobbs Gin is a 45% Distilled Gin with strength and flavour. The mix of traditional and local botanicals create a distinctive taste reminiscent of old style ‘Export’ Strength Gins. The introduction of a curl of orange peel brings out the citrus notes and gives a complex, long and smooth refreshing finish.

Foodie Dad…

After that refreshing start with a G&T there are so many foodie delights you can get your mitts on for the Dad that love things all food & drink. First up why not treat him to a bit of ‘lockdown luxury’ with a posh take out evening meal or Sunday Roast and cocktails from Crockers of Henley? Or an afternoon tea, yes we said afternoon tea for your Dad including handmade cheese & fruit scones, clotted cream and jam, sandwiches & savories & beautiful sweet treats from Chef Simon McKenzie or a Father’s Day treat box from Chris the baker.

Maybe put a Henley Hamper together with lots of favoutite local produce or if chocolate is his thing a hamper from Rosie’s Chocolate Factory or pop into Gorvett & Stone in Duke Street. Does he like things hot? Then how about a Johnny Hot Stuff Chilli Lovers Pack and if he’s a dab hand in the kitchen and a bit of a stirrer he’s going to need a wooden spoon or two from Burning Desire!

Oh and how could we nearly forget pies! Every Dad loves a pie surely? Check out the super tasty Pielicious pies that are made right here in Henley and they have recently added this vegetarian beauty Dauphinoise & Caramelised Red Onion!

Thirsty Dad…

Have you got a thirsty Dad? You can’t beat local craft beer as a Father’s Day treat. Spoilt for choice, you could grab an 8 pack, a mini keg or even ‘build your own’ 24 pack from Lovibonds Brewery, brewed right here in Henley. Down the road the ever popular Rebellion may float his boat. If he loves his grape more than his grain, why not get him a celebratory bottle (or case!) of Henley Fairmile Fizz or a bottle or two from Fawley wine producers Oaken Grove Vineyard or maybe an Ale Hamper, wine or liquer from Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery. Think that’s enough on the booze front!

Dapper Dad…

Unique fashion in the heart of Henley-on-Thames is how Laurence Menswear describe themselves and if your Dad wants to make a fashion statement why not pop in this week and see what fits the bill. And what Dad doesn’t need a hat? None is what we say and Liz Felix Millinery has some fantastic caps and for when the sun comes back out to play he’s going to need a Panama to keep him cool in the heat in proper Henley fashion!

Sporty Dad…

Does your Dad don the lycra at the weekend? Athlete Services in Greys Road Car Park or Henley Cycles in Duke Street might have something right up his alley with plenty of cycling accessories to choose from. Or pay a visit to that fine Henley institution that is Henley Sports who have all those great Father’s Day sporty gifts. A Dad who plays golf or tennis can never have enough balls!

Different Dad…

Does your Dad do different? Or just a bit stuck what to get him. We guarantee that if you go into The Vintage Look you will come out with something, whether it’s a retro sign, vintage gardening tools or a sealed terrarium that needs no attention or watering to brighten up his office. So much to look at, individual and willl definitely inspire you.

Maybe Dad has been feeling the stress and axiety of the current world we are living in and could do with some de-stressing? Candela Hypnosis in Reading Road is offering a Self Hypnosis Voucher for Father’s Day, a 90 minute lesson and experience of hypnosis for just £75. Dare to be different!

Lucky Dad…

Finally, the lucky Dad and he certainly would be lucky to get one of these, a Bremont watch. Bremont is an award-winning British company producing beautifully engineered chronometers right here at their headquarters in Henley-On-Thames. You can’t get a better #madeinhenley stamp than that.
