Planet Organic, the chain, loved by Londoners for its healthy, planet friendly choices for over 26 years, opens outside of the capital for the first time today (Oct 28th) in Henley-on-Thames.

The Mayor of Henley, Cllr Michelle Thomas officially opened the new store yesterday where she welcomed all the staff and Planet Organic to Henley and said that she couldn’t wait to start shopping, “it all looks so inviting, I think you’ve done a great job with the shop fitting. I know that from speaking to people that work for Planet Organic that you are already working together very closely with our local community, NOMAD, with our schools, even with the market place traders out here, that kind of engagement with local people from the start is absolutely essential and shows that you are fully committed to Henley. I hope you have every success here and thank you for coming to Henley.”

The bright and airy store is packed full of organic produce from fresh fruit and veg, large range of plant based products, all the ambient goods you’d expect in a supermarket. Along with a small refill station of cereals, nuts and seeds, through to an extensive range of beauty and wellbeing products.

The shelves also have a great signalling system of every product label, so if you’re looking for low sugar, gluten free, organic, vegetarian or vegan, it’s already displayed for you rather than having to pick the product up and look for yourself.

“There are over 3,500 products with a range of healthy, sustainable options. At Planet Organic our experts do the hard work for you, meticulously checking the ingredients lists of our beauty and wellness range for hundreds of questionable and unwanted ingredients. We also test everything personally. If it doesn’t pass these tests, we won’t offer it.”

As well as the supermarket shelves, the store has their ‘Food To Go’ counter serving, coffee’s, freshly made juices, toasties and fresh pastries and have just added Dirtea’s Mushroom Chai made with Lion’s Mane mushroom powder to it’s instore speciality drinks menu.

George Dymond CEO of Planet Organic said amongst other things about working with the local community, “discovering better is what we’re about, better for your health and better for the planet…the other big thing that we like to do is partner with suppliers both big and small suppliers and if I’m honest I prefer small suppliers they do much more innovative things like The Good Grain overnight oats, which came to life because the founder came into our store in Hampstead and said why don’t you give this a go. It went incredibly well and we’re now collaborating with them across Planet. Over the months and years to come we want to see more local products, local innovators coming up with great ideas and I’m sure some of them are in that (Henley) market place already.

Henley is big step up from most of our London stores for the look and feel, with the soul and DNA of Planet (Organic) coming to life.”
