Experience bespoke luxury with Savile Row Travel this winter

After a two year travel hiatus we’ve all got itchy feet and are raring to pick up where we left off to travel the world, explore and experience new places, faces and cultures, or to just get back to our favourite destinations and escapes that we have missed so much.

Experience Henley have partnered with Savile Row Travel, curators of luxury holidays, to provide some wonderful travel ideas, experiences and destinations for this winter. Here are some of their recommendations encompassing sun, sea, sand and snow.

Why not try embracing the chilly weather with our ski expert Lowri, to find you the cosiest room in the perfect chocolate-box village, or the most luxurious suite on the slopes of the Alps. Although some lower resorts have seen a lack of snow this season, our ski team have taken all our clients out to resorts which have been drowning in powder!

Some of our more adventurous clients have even headed off to experience the ultimate skiing thrill – heli-skiing at Tyax in British Columbia, Canada! They benefited from private group trips up to the highest peaks for a truly unforgettable ride in the heart of the Rocky Mountain backcountry – Tyax Wilderness Resort

If winter sun is more your cup of tea, we recommend heading out to the tropical islands of the Indian Ocean for a week (or longer) to spend lounging on soft white sands and snorkelling amongst glittering waters and colourful coral. Whether it’s a birthday or anniversary celebration or simply a getaway from hectic home life, savour your special moments by toasting champagne on the deck of your over-water villa, overlooking shimmering waters for as far as the eye could see.

A week in The Maldives could even be the pièce de résistance on the end of a Sri Lankan safari adventure! Spot leopards wandering through the jungle from the comfort of your Jeep, while you absorb all of your guide’s expert knowledge and leave feeling like an expert yourself – Our selection of hand-picked Exotic Destinations

Crossing over to Thailand, we recently put together a girls trip for our long-term client and her best friends. After landing in Bangkok, the group transferred over to Koh Samui staying at the Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas. Over 9 days, they enjoyed barefoot luxury, gazing out over glittering bay views – a dream come true!

One of the most prominent trends we’ve seen recently is the desire for experiential travel. After two years of pandemic-induced restrictions, travellers are increasingly choosing to incorporate adventures into their trips, rather than spending the duration on one beach.  Create memories that will last a lifetime on an unforgettable safari, joining the Big Five in their natural habitat.

South Africa is a particular favourite this year as a destination guaranteeing scorching sun but with absolutely no jet lag! The delightful temperatures are nothing however compared to the sights to be seen on the continent. Head over to explore Cape Town before jumping onto a Jeep for a safari through Kruger National Park lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalo. Sleeping beneath the stars in luxury tents nestled within authentic bush camps, listening to the midnight sounds of the African plains – a true bucket list experience for any travel admirer.

Perhaps surprisingly, Egypt is another spot creeping up in popularity amongst tourists. Increasingly seen as a safe destination and with new attractions such as the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum set to open later this year, 2023 might just be the year to uncover Egypt’s abundance of history for yourself.

One of our travel curators explored the country for herself a few months ago, flying in from Jordan to visit the Pyramids, Museums and the Old City.

The three Pyramids of Giza, one of the most famous landmarks in the world and the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, were built as tombs by three Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt about 4500 years ago. The Giza plateau is also home to many other smaller pyramids and temples, and monuments like the Great Sphinx of Giza.

For a more indulgent experience, a number of clients have chosen the luxurious Nile Cruise options, boarding ships in Luxor and gliding down to Aswan, stopping at all the sights on the way.
