No royal event can take place with a commemorative beer being brewed in its honour and the Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee is no exception. Brakspear are brewing Queen Bee ale to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II.

10p from every pint sold will go towards supporting Britain’s bee population too as a nod to the name of the beer.

Tom Davies, CEO for the company said “It’s a British tradition to have a celebratory beer for big events and we couldn’t let this one pass by without one. With Her Majesty’s love for nature and everyone being encouraged to plant a tree for the Jubilee, we wanted to do our part for nature.   Bees have always been close to our hearts.”

“The money raised will be invested into beehives we’re installing in some of our pubs this year. It’s an exciting project as we’re all aware how important bees are for our global survival so we’re trying to play our part.”

The company, which has 125 pubs across the South of England, has had a bee in its logo since 1779. This dates back to when the only ever English pope Adrian IV, born Nicholas Breakspear, a distant relative, had a bee as his papal symbol back in 1154.

The zesty blonde 4.2% ale is refreshing and hoppy and will be the perfect thirst-quencher throughout May and over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend at the start of June. This exclusive ale will only be available in Brakspear pubs whilst stocks last.

Where will you be able to get a pint? Brakspear pubs in Henley: The Little Angel, The Angel on the Bridge, The Bull on Bell Street, The Old Bell, Hof’s, The Anchor, The Bird in Hand, Row Barge Inn, The Three Tuns, The Three Horseshoes and Saracen’s Head.
