In order to further support the work of their Henley based charity Opera Prelude are excited to bring you a carefully chosen collection of stationery and specially designed gifts, some of which are exclusive to Opera Prelude.  They have collaborated with people dotted around the country who still value traditional skills and use local, natural or recycled materials.

You’re most likely to have come across Opera Prelude previously through their year-round series of events, mainly lecture recitals, spectacular concerts and intimate private parties. But of themselves, they say that is just the tip of the iceberg.

“Opera Prelude exists because of how tough it can be for young singers in the early stages of their careers.

With so much uncertainty, especially in terms of live performance and the continuation of physical distancing measures, Opera Prelude is using these challenges positively, finding new and creative ways of keeping opera alive. In order to support the work of our charity we are presenting short online Lecture Recitals, performances and inspiring discussions. These will be presented by some of our most talented young artists who will be joined from time to time by celebrated performers, academics, art historians and musicologists. Our young artists are some of the most promising talent to emerge on the opera stage.

Unlike some programmes, we don’t charge a fee to become an Opera Prelude Young Artist. However we offer a great deal – mostly by creating fairly paid performance opportunities, something which can be surprisingly hard to come by as a young singer. These opportunities include our year-round lecture series and masterclasses, as well as recitals and our increasingly wide-ranging outreach programme.

We also offer bursaries and mini-grants to help our young artists.
