All the fun of Wargrave & Shiplake Regatta

Today marks the start of the two day Wargrave & Shiplake Regatta (5th-6th August) and what great weather for it returning after a two year absence. Why not pop down and join in the fun, it’s not your normal regatta!

There are a total of 317 races (skiffs, dongolas, you name it) over the two days starting today. There will be a ferry running from the George & Dragon on the Wargrave Road from 8am Friday and from 5:45am on Saturday for the WSR Open Water Swim.

There is food and drink including beer, BBQ and bacon butties plus pizza, crepes and milkshakes, H’Artisan salads and pastries, Camper Coffee, and ice creams. There’s plenty of room for picnics too!

The enclosure opens at 06.00am on Friday for the erection of gazebo’s with racing starting at 09.30am and with 317 races taking place over the two days its going to be busy!

Parking is available in the Regatta meadows at the bottom of Mill Road in Shiplake- RG9 3LY

If you want to have a go and take part then the Scratch Dongola is for you.  Go to the Regatta Enclosure early on Saturday morning to put your name down and be entered into a crew.  Racing starts later in the day and no previous experience is necessary!

The two day festival of water based fun, finishes with fireworks on the Saturday night at 10pm.
