The Sausage Squad Stories – The Project with Purpose
Local resident, Anna Zeller, has brought to life a picture book to encourage responsible consumption and to support children’s charity, Starlight UK, focused on brightening the lives of seriously ill children around the country.
The children’s book title is called “The Sausage Squad and the Transportational Tunnel” and follows the adventures around the world of four dachshund friends based on real life characters. The feel-good rhyming story aims to teach kids about diversity, different cultures out there and the importance of friendship through the fun-loving viewpoint of a miniature dapple dachshund girl and her sausage squad.
The newly launched book aims to encourage sustainable production and consumption. The book is written, illustrated and printed in the UK at an environmentally conscious printer. It is also female written and illustrated.
Anna says, “It’s important to me to be supporting local talent and businesses especially during such economically challenging times. By providing our customers with a quality, personal experience from start to finish and being transparent about where our costs come from, we hope to shift behaviours towards slow consumption and redefine value for parents, starting with this book which will stand the test of time to be enjoyed over and over again between generations.”
All profits from book sales will be donated to Starlight UK as well as books for children to receive in hospitals across the country.
“This charity is close to my heart as it works so closely with children in our community and hospitals. I wanted to support them by creating a product which we could include in hospital care packages and also use sales to raise awareness and funds for the foundation. I’m so proud of this project and want to ensure it raises as much money and awareness as possible about Starlight especially after what has been a hugely difficult year for independent charities.”
