The Little Angel over the bridge in Remenham is reopening it’s doors today (4th September) under strong new ownership.

Leading the way is David Thompson, Zach Leach and Head Chef Danny Little. Having previously been behind the success stories of The Belgian Arm’s in Holyport, award winning Top 50 Gastro Pub The Swan at Chiddingfold and The Winning Post at Winkfield listed in Sawdays Special Places to Stay, The Good Food Guide and Hardens, it’s looking like a pretty strong tick in the box for Henley and Henley foodies.

Talking to David and Zach they feel that having the right people, excellent service and creating the best food that they can cook is the recipe for success. They want The Little Angel to be part of the community, providing what local people want with a welcoming and casual dining scene.

They say that it’s all about providing a warm welcome and consistency, no matter if you’re in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, want to pop in for a coffee in your wellies after a dog walk or before breakfast, want to pull up a chair for a coffee meeting or doing some work or to sit casually by the fire with a cheeseboard you should get the same experience, warmth of welcome and attention.

Head Chef Danny Little has created a corker of a menu which we can’t wait to try. Danny, formally of The Dog & Badger at Medmenham, and his team are sourcing and using local wherever they can and the menu will continue to change and evolve. The team want to ensure that they are providing what their customers want, so good quality, local and sustainability is high on the agenda.

The opening menu is a strong hand with likes of starter dishes of Smoked Chicken & Crispy Chicken Skin, Rabbit Croquettes with Carrot Textures or Queen scallops amongst the offerings followed by a Wagyu & Truffle Burger with Raclette cheese, maybe Steak with Sauce Viege, Mushroom Butter & Tempura Bone Marrow or Poached Lobster Tail with Tartar Beurre Blanc. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s local cheeses and wicked sounding desserts such as Chocolate & Orange Creameux, Coconut Panna-cotta with Pineapple Salsa, Apple & Cinnamon Compote or that age old favourite Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Along with a top notch menu, wines and ales The Little Angel will also be hosting events from supper clubs to tastings, including their regular ‘Bloody Mary Blandy Sundays’, starting this Sunday. Mary Blandy, notorious murderess who took refuge at The Little Angel before being arrested shortly after, is now said to haunt the historical pub, so what better way of a nod to Mary’s story than the enjoyment of what is purported to be the ultimate and best hangover cure.

You’ll be able to build your own Bloody Mary and if you like yours hot there’ll be a ‘hot sauce buffet’ for you to chose your own heat level! And what makes their Bloody Mary so special? We’re told that it’s adding a dash of Blandy’s Madeira. There’s only one way to find out if this is true.

As well as their normal menu, The Little Angel will be open for breakfast 8.30-11.00am starting this Saturday, and Sunday Lunch every week from 12.00-4.30pm. Word on the street is that their gravy is really rather good…this, could be a game changer!

The Little Angel are now taking bookings.
