McQueen’s, a new Deli & Bakery opening in Nettlebed
Local brothers Freddie and Jack Wilcox are behind a new deli-bakery McQueen’s that is opening soon in Nettlebed.
In what was the Field Kitchen in Nettlebed High Street, the brothers who were brought up in Stoke Row, plan to open and create ‘a foodie space for the local community and beyond, and to source high quality ingredients and fresh, seasonal produce.’
Freddie Wilcox (the Chef) who’s experience includes being a commis chef at Orwells in Binfield Heath, Gelato Chef at Gelupo and Chef at The Goring Grocer, says visitors can expect a range of products from sourdough bread, pastries, cakes, doughnuts to a variety of salads, sandwiches, soups and homemade ready meals all made fresh on-site. They are also hoping to offer homemade ice cream in the summer too.
Jack Wilcox (the baker) says, ‘I will be baking with UK stoneground flours, which are more nutritious, full of flavour and better for digestion. The plan is also to showcase products from other small businesses in the shop in addition to selling fresh seasonal produce every day.
Our mission is to create a space for the community and beyond; to support growers, millers and suppliers from around the country. We want to play a part in contributing to a sustainable food system and demonstrate why these high quality ingredients deserve the spotlight.’
The pair are currently recruiting staff ready for the opening. You can follow McQueen’s Deli & Bakery on Instagram at @mcqueensdeli
