Music Nights are back at The Crooked Billet
The Crooked Billet at Stoke Row shot to fame back in the day when they hosted Kate Winslet’s wedding breakfast when she married Jim Threapleton back in 1998. But of course that’s not all the Crooked Billet is famous for, it’s also well know for it’s great food and terrific music nights at the hands of Chef proprieter Paul Clerehugh.
It has been a bit of a live performance desert recently with the current pandemic but here in Henley all our fantastic pubs, restaurants and hostelries are doing all they can to make our visits as pain free and enjoyable as they can be, and The Crooked Billet is no exception with this excellent line up of live music.
How do the music nights work?
“The way our music nights work is that you book a table in the restaurant & pay for whatever you eat & drink.
Music nights are hosted in a centrally heated marquee connected to the pub enabling Covid management & socially distanced tables. Audience need to have pre-show dinner and remain seated during the performance. Table service food & drinks throughout the evening. Whilst the 10pm curfew applies, performances start at 8:30pm & conclude before 10:00pm. Guests can arrive for dinner from 6:00pm – you must be at your table by 7:00pm absolute latest. Masks must be worn until you’re seated, staff will assist with the ‘one way’ flow routes. There are plenty of hand sanitising points around the whole venue. Additional WC’s installed offering extra hand washing facilities. We also use disposable menus & NHS Tack & Trace.
Thanks for supporting us. Thanks to our incredible musicians. I know you’re itching to get up & bop or offer standing applause… …COVID! Remain seated!”
No chatting during the show. Respect others and help keep music live. – Paul Clerehugh 2020

Richard Digence – 12th October
Many people sing, play guitar & tell stories but not many have supported Steve Martin, Robin Williams or played a guitar duet with Brian May of Queen, Richard Digance has.
A rare performer, he’s respected by comedians for his original material & by musicians for being an accomplished performer/guitarist. His loyal following confirms his wide appeal, from the younger generation attracted by both his guitar playing & the fact he has inspired many modern-day performers, to the super-loyal who have followed Richard since the time he had his own ITV series & even further when he started out in folk clubs. His evergreen career has been acknowledged through numerous awards within both the music & entertainment industries, from a BAFTA Nomination as a TV entertainer to a Gold Award from The British Academy of Composers & Songwriters. He is included in The Virgin Anthology of Songwriters for his important contribution to British comedy song writing.
He is both an accomplished musician, rated by many as one of Britain’s greatest acoustic guitarists, inspired by his good friend Ralph McTell, & an entertainer who many younger comedians, including Ross Noble, claim as one of their major influences. On his own ITV Saturday-night show Richard has played guitar with Queen’s Brian May, The Moody Blues, Status Quo, Chris deBurgh, Juan Martin, Marc Cohn & Elkie Brooks. Really looking forward to this one.

Celebrating George Harrison
It’s 50 years since the release of George Harrisons masterpiece, the triple album “All Things Must Pass”.
George regularly visited the Crooked Billet, occasionally came to our music nights & even onCe actually picked up a guitar. We are determined to celebrate the anniversary of George’s first solo album after the Beatles went their separate ways.
Alex Eberhard, front man & guitarist with the legendary All Things Must Pass band, joined by fellow guitarist Bernd Rest to perform a fascinating selection of songs from the album along with material from George’s incredible diverse musical output including Something, Here Comes The Sun & My Sweet Lord.
As the pub phone isn’t answered regularly at the moment, please email paulclerehugh@thecrookedbillet.co.uk to reserve tickets £25. We’ll call you to take payment when back in the groove. All Things Must Pass.
