In the Spotlight: Jack’s Gallery
JACK’S GALLERY, based in Hart Street in Henley, has been specialising in Jack Vettriano Limited Edition Prints plus Artist Proofs and Studio Proofs for over ten years. As well as loving the exuberant colours and style of Vettriano paintings and artwork, people also enjoy collecting individual pictures that may have potential investment value over time, particularly the Artist & Studio Proofs, which are the initial run of the print and only have a very small number of editions. Based on historic sales, we are always happy to give advice on particular images, so please call us to discuss your interests or requirements.
The gallery also provides a specialist Picture Framing service for all types of Paintings, Artwork and Photographs – or anything else! We offer a wide range of Frames, Mounts and Glass to help you to achieve your perfect picture.
Jack’s Gallery is owned and run by Jack Free, who has been an Art Dealer for over 25 years. Jack previously had galleries in Buckinghamshire and regularly holds exhibitions around the Home Counties and the West Country.
Vettriano’s Style
Vettriano’s paintings are reminiscent of film noir and often feature romantic or erotic themes. In 2004 his best-known painting The Singing Butler sold at auction for just under £750,000. In the same year he was awarded the OBE and was the subject of a television documentary, Jack Vettriano: The People’s Painter, on ITV’s South Bank Show.
He was made a Doctor of Letters by the University of St Andrews in 2003 and the following year he set up a scholarship at the university, which is awarded every four years. He has donated several works of art to be sold in aid of charities and has set up the Vettriano Trust to help struggling artists achieve their potential.
A major retrospective of Vettriano’s work was held at the Kelvingrove Gallery, Glasgow, in 2013.
Vettriano has studios in London and Scotland and divides his time between Fife, London and Nice.
