Get ready for the return of the Living Avent Calendar
One of Henley’s favourite traditions is returning this December. The Henley Living Advent Calendar IS BACK with gusto and some new venues.
It’s a full on month of celebrating the festive season with wonderful performances every evening from 1st-24th December at a different venue each night, supporting local charities.
The brief from Head Elf Richard Rodway of The Head Partnership is that it’s all about having some fun with everyone around Henley in the run up to Christmas and that monies raised for charities is a real bonus.
The event which began in 2011 has raised a phenomenal amount of money for all manner of charities through the years, whether big or small and it gives the smaller charities a fantastic opportunity to create awareness and raise funds.
Like a children’s Advent Calendar, a different window or door is opened at 6:15pm promptly each evening and a 30 minute performance is given to the audience assembled. This can include songs, carols, music, poetry, book excerpts, notes from local history or folklore, sketches or dance.
There are six new venues that have been welcomed into the fold Thames Lodge in Reading Road, the Anchor pub in Friday Street, the Catherine Wheel pub and The Relais Henley hotel, both in Hart Street, Trinity Hall in Harpsden Road and the Eyot Centre, off Wargrave Road
