Award Winning Baker to take over The Cherry Tree Pub

In the heart of South Oxfordshire, a quiet revolution in food is unfolding. One of those at the centre is Tona Erreguin, the Mexican-born chef and co-founder of the award-winning Imma The Bakery in Stoke Row, who spilled the beans on social media about being the new custodian of The Cherry Tree Inn in the same village.
To say that Experience Henley is excited about this news is an understatement.
Before sourdough queues snaked out the door of their bakery, Tona spent over 15 years immersed in the world of fine dining. Her culinary career spanned Michelin-starred kitchens and culminated in the opening of Imma, a refined restaurant in Mexico named after the Hebrew word for “mother.” It was a space where every plate was crafted with care and intention.
She realised that the connection she craved through food wasn’t reaching everyday people in the fine dining world. Tona relocated to the UK, where she brought her philosophy and passion to South Oxfordshire.
Tona’s journey, from philosophy student in Argentina to head chef in Mexico, and now baker and publican in Stoke Row is inspiring.
We cannot wait to see what Tona will bring to the 400 year old pub, The Cherry Tree, who just wants to create ‘soul touching food’ for all those that try it. Just as Imma The Bakery has made its mark in the local area and the baking world, we are pretty sure that Tona will put her deep rooted love of food and connection at the centre of the pub.
With her hands in dough and her heart in the community, Tona is firmly putting her culinary stamp on the local area, one loaf, one plate, and one story at a time.
