Honeys of Henley have launched their new Apitherapy House. It’s a beautifully innovative addition to their bee-led wellness offering, blending traditional beekeeping with holistic health in a way that feels both grounded and forward-thinking.

The pod is located in the stunning grounds of Oaken Grove Vineyard in Fawley, with views of the serene vineyard and surrounding ancient woodland. It is a purpose-built wooden cabin designed for immersive apitherapy, a practice that uses the natural properties of the hive to promote wellbeing. Visitors sit inside the pod, surrounded by active beehives housed in sealed compartments. Through a fine mesh, they can breathe in the warm, aromatic air of the hive, rich in propolis, pollen, beeswax, and honey vapour all believed to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and calming effects.

It’s a wonderful sensory experience, the gentle hum of the bees, the scent of the hive, and the warmth of the wood all combine to create a restorative environment. While the bees remain safely enclosed, their presence is deeply felt offering a connection to nature that’s both intimate and therapeutic.

This kind of offering is rare in the UK and reflects Honeys of Henley’s commitment to thoughtful, sustainable innovation. Nigel and Jo Eddon, have long championed traditional beekeeping methods, and the Apitherapy House is a natural extension of their ethos: happy bees, healthy humans.

Speaking about how the Apitherapy House came about, Jo from Honeys of Henley said, “years and years ago Nigel and I were chatting when we were working with our bees, and we were commenting on how fantastic we felt when working with our bees. The smell coming out of the hive, the wonderful sound in the air and how much calm it brought to us, and how content we felt. Physically and mentally, it was such a soothing aspect of beekeeping. Being interested in all things bees, we came across the reality that occurs in many other countries which is buildings that house these bees that are then shared with people for the health benefits, and we said oh we’d love to do that.

Miraculously after an off-the-cuff conversation with Phil last year the opportunity arose and we are now able to do that. I just said, okay, how about this? Could we do this at Oaken Grove Vineyard? It’s the most amazing place to come, we have bee hives here, our bees thrive here, so to bring together our idea of a really therapeutic experience in this beautiful setting of Oaken Grove Vineyard, it was kind of a dream. But today it’s called reality, so I am going to cut the ribbon.”

You can reconnect with nature and rediscover your calm by booking an Apitherapy Session. The overall experience is 45 minutes, with a 30 minute session in the Apitherapy House. Individual and group sessions are available from April to October.
