Guess what’s back? Crockers Sunday roast, that’s what!

On a stunning Autumn day the new dining space at Crockers is perfect for a bit of people watching and diving into a delicious Sunday roast.

Henley’s award winning Market Place eatery has created a light airy dining space in what was the bar area. Beautifully decorated and designed, it’s a delight to sit in to while away a few hours of fabulous food and wine, and perfect for watching the world go by.

We were delighted to hear that, the ubiquitous Sunday Roast is back at Crockers and what a welcome return to the Sunday roast helm, adding yet another fantastic place in Henley to indulge in the traditional great British Sunday pastime.

Sublime service and sublime food is what you come to expect from Crockers and their Sunday roast does not disappoint. Superbly slow roasted topside of beef and deliciously unctuous soft slow cooked pork belly with an uber crispy skin were perfect accompaniments to the vegetables.

What we love about Crockers is that the vegetables are never an after thought and always have an equal billing on the dish. The man behind the stove at Ember is Chef Tom Westerland and his passion is cooking over flame so the chard and carrots are beautifully caramelised with a lovely smokey nuance.

Perfectly crisp but fluffy on the inside potatoes and a lovely puffy but crisp Yorkshire pudding are the meat and veg bedfellows, all ready to be dowsed in a red wine gravy, accompanied by a bowl of luxurious cauliflower cheese.

You can almost hear the crunch!

Who wouldn’t want all of the above served up to them on a Sunday, with no pots and pans to wash?

We also treated ourselves to a nibble or two before the main show of the roast with one of our favourites, Kentucky Fried Octopus, and their oh so moreish Tiger Bread with Branston butter topped with Godminster Cheese!

And for afters it all went a bit bananas! A brand new luscious and zingy dessert.
