Henley’s chief Christmas Elf Richard Rodway of THP Solicitors has been making his venues list and checking it twice for this year’s Henley Living Advent Calendar line up and yes there are only 43 sleeps to go.

An amazing £10, 452.61 was raised for good causes last year breaking the £10,000 barrier for the first time, and that’s what the Henley Living Advent Calendar is all about.

Richard said, “we are delighted and humbled once again by peoples support and enthusiasm for the event. We’re pretty excited about this year’s line up – delighted to be taking the event to Hart Street Tavern and Robinson Sherston estate agents for the first time and with no fewer than 8 new performers in the schedule.”

The Henley Living Advent Calendar is based on an original idea from Stockholm and began here in 2011.

One of the first events of it’s kind in the UK, and certainly the first locally, it runs every evening from December 1^st to 24^th. Like a children’s Advent Calendar, a different window or door is opened at 6:15pm promptly each evening and a 30 minute performance is given to the audience assembled.

This can include songs, carols, music, poetry, book excerpts, notes from local history or folklore, sketches, dance etc, all with a Christmas or winter focus to them.

Each Venue is matched, with a local performer or group of performers. A collection is made, and Raffle tickets sold, every evening for selected local Charities.
