Head to Market Place tomorrow evening (Weds 5th June) in the centre of Henley for the quintessentially English spectacle of Morris dancing from 8.00-9.30pm. Stop by, have a jig or two and maybe even a flagon of beer from one of Henley’s Market Place hostelries.
The Taeppa’s Tump North-West Morris team (based in Maidenhead) are looking forward to dancing with guests, Borderline Morris.
There will be a glorious display of colourful types of Morris dancing!
Tæppa’s Tump is a Ladies North West Morris side which was formed in 1981.
Their name is taken from one of the area’s outstanding archaeological sites, the burial mound of “Tæppa” a Saxon chieftain who gave his name to Taplow, which is now a very pleasant village on the outskirts of Maidenhead. The burial mound was first excavated in 1883 and yielded a collection of Saxon grave goods, which are now in the British Museum and are second only to the Sutton Hoo Burial Hoard.
