Sarah Ferguson in Conversation with Marguerite Kaye

A new event has been added to the Henley Literary Festival, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, will be joined by Marguerite Kaye to discuss her book Her Heart For A Compass and more on Thursday 7th October in the Baillie Gifford Marquee at Phyllis Court Club.

A strong-willed redhead rebels against a society where women are expected to conform, attracts the attention of the press and then turns to writing. Parallels loom between Lady Margaret, heroine of Her Heart for a Compass, and her creator Sarah Ferguson. But it is the life of her great-great-aunt Margaret Montagu Douglas-Scott that most inspired the Duchess of York’s first novel, after writing bestselling children’s books and non-fiction for over 30 years. We are taken first to 1865 London, where our protagonist finds strength from other free-spirited friends, including Queen Victoria’s daughter Princess Louise, before she heads to Ireland, America and then back to Britain.

It’s not every Mills & Boon bestseller that receives praise from Julian Fellowes, Jeffrey Archer and The Guardian so don’t miss this rare chance to hear the Duchess discuss her life and writing with co-author Marguerite Kaye, whose own books have sold over 1.5 million copies in 20 countries.
