Tenet

Regal Picturehouse aims to open on 31st July announced today (30th June).

It was thought that some Picturehouses would open on 10th July but the Cineworld chain which owns Picturehouse has pushed back the re-openings blaming the delay in new film releases.

Picturehouse are planning to open Cinemas from 31 July 2020, though they say that with the on-going pandemic, the new date remains subject to final confirmation.

General manager of the Regal Picturehouse Mel Macfarlane says that the Regal team can’t wait to welcome their customers back to the cinema, “It has been a long wait and we have some fantastic must see new film releases coming up once we open. We would also like to reassure everyone that we have put in safety guidelines and procedures to provide a safe environment for all our customers and staff. We look forward to seeing you.”

Picturehouse would also like to reassure Members that they will not lose the value of the fees paid for Membership as they will be extending the duration of Memberships to reflect the period of time their cinemas are closed.

Statement from The Picturehouse Team:

Following the announcement that Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated Tenet has been postponed by two weeks, along with other significant changes to the UK film calendar, including Alice Winocour’s Proxima and Disney’s Mulan, we have made the decision to now open our cinemas from 31 July 2020. With the on-going pandemic, this new date remains subject to final confirmation.

We are busy working on our full film programme, which will include Tenet, Proxima and Mulan as we’ve already mentioned – as well as a number of classics and big screen re-releases – and will announce tickets on sale in the coming weeks.

This is just the beginning, we can’t wait to show titles including No Time To Die, A Quiet Place Part IIBlack WidowWonder Woman 1984 and Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch later in the year.

Our aim is to safely re-open our cinemas in line with government guidance on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In order to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our employees and audiences, we’ve made some important changes.  Our new safety guidelines include the following:

  • Social distancing will be in place throughout the cinema
  • Hand sanitiser will be available in each cinema
  • A limited number of seats will be available to ensure social distancing in screen
  • Enhanced cleaning throughout the day
  • Film screenings will have staggered start times to allow for safe entry and exit of the cinema
  • All employees will receive specific COVID-19 training and PPE will be provided where the risk assessment has deemed it necessary
  • We have added protective screens at our kiosk areas where social distancing cannot be maintained
  • Contactless payments are encouraged
  • Cafes, bars and restaurants will remain closed until further notice

We will monitor and adapt to this new situation as necessary and will continue to follow future advice from the relevant government agencies.

We have all had a challenging few months and we thank you for your patience, ongoing support and passion for cinema.

We’ve missed you and are looking forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the best of cinema on the big screen.
