‘Park & Fly’ Cable Car attraction for Henley

Sofia Pardolly, a local entrepreneur, has unveiled ambitious plans for a cable car attraction at the River & Rowing Museum in Mill Meadows, Henley-on-Thames.

Inspired by the success of former Henley MP Boris Johnson’s Greenwich cable car, Pardolly’s creative agency, Air Of Poll, has envisioned an experience that offers breath-taking views over the river and woodland, soaring to the top of White Hill and back.

In addition to being a tourist magnet, the project includes plans for a car park atop White Hill. This innovative ‘park & fly’ concept aims to provide commuters and visitors with a convenient alternative travel option, potentially easing traffic congestion along White Hill.

Unlike the London skyline, this attraction promises a more tranquil, nature-focused perspective. Not so much three men in a boat but six people picnicking in a cable car, as the vision doesn’t stop there. Pardolly is also exploring “dining in the sky” experiences, where guests would enjoy Pimm’s and lobster as they float 20 meters above the river—a luxurious affair dubbed the “Perfect Henley Picnic.”

Town planners have acknowledged the potential benefits of reduced traffic and are also open to the idea of lighting the cable car infrastructure with a design that would complement the natural beauty of the river and surrounding woodland.

Ms. Pardolly plans to formally submit her proposals in the coming months.
