Local bakery home to Britain’s Best Sourdough Loaf
Imma The Bakery, based in the village of Stoke Row brings home the bread, award winning bread that is. The local artisan micro bakery has brought home the accolade of Britain’s best plain sourdough loaf at the Britain’s Best Loaf competition at The NEC in Birmingham.
Of the win, Tona, baker at Imma The Bakery said, “It was very nice to receive it, we were not expecting it because of the amount of the entrants, we believe it’s the toughest of the entries because it’s plain sourdough which shortens the possibilities of playing around with flavours. So it’s a lot of technique, a lot of work you put into it, the obsession we’ve created with the formulas and recipes and experimentation. The Oxford Loaf is basically a country loaf that wants to pay homage to the countryside to give you that amazing flavour and depth, that nice crunch that reminds you of that walk through the woods. I think that’s what we aim for.”
The Oxford Country loaf is our flagship bread, a culinary masterpiece that embodies the spirit of our community. Made with a blend of locally-sourced, organic & stoneground wheat and rye, and a carefully-balanced levain, this loaf is bursting with flavor and aroma. It is the perfect accompaniment to any meal, and a true taste of the Oxfordshire countryside.
How to get your hands on some of this award winning bread? You could pop into The Henley Larder in Duke Street that stocks it or head to the bakery in Stoke Row. The bakery is open Wednesday – Saturday 8am-2pm and Sundays 8am-1pm and the counter is open for bread, pastries, sandwiches, toasties and coffee.
