Last throes of summer
Summer is not quite over yet, one last weekend before we’re all in ‘back to school’ mode and the autumnal mornings creep in. Though the forecast for this weekend and next week is pretty good. Are we in for a glorious September? Let’s hope so.
What’s coming up this weekend?
Tonight for one night only, no it’s not Cab Calloway and the Blues Brothers but Johnny Hot Stuff and his Supper Club at Oaken Grove Vineyard. American themed and apparently Elvis is in the house. Tickets still available and you get a 10% discount if you have an Experience Henley Card (just check your app for the discount code) THE HOT STUFF SUPPER CLUB – AMERICAN MENU

What can be more magical than ambling through fields of sunflowers in the late summer sunshine? Not much we don’t think. Between 1-5pm on Sunday 3rd Sept it’s the Stonor Farm Charity Day in support of The Chiltern Centre where there will be tractor & trailer rides, pick your own sunflowers, a vineyard tour, paint lab, bead making and go-cart racing…we know, sounds great, doesn’t it! £10 entry, under 3’s free charityday – Stonor Farm Fundraising for The Chiltern Centre
Nope, nothing is more quintessentially English that a summer fete on a balmy day. Remenham Village Fayre is on Sunday 3rd Sept 2.30-5pm and villagers young and old, veg growers, dog owners, bakers and Henley visitors are all warmly invited for an afternoon of children ‘Splatting the Rat’, Hooking a Duck, or dress up for the free fancy dress competition; and grown ups enjoying trying to hit a coconut, ferreting through the ‘pre-loved’ bric and brac for a bargain, winning a bottle in the tombola or taking part in the all-comers/gender neutral Tug of War. And it wouldn’t be a village fayre without a bar, BBQ and WI tea and cakes. Free entry Remenham Village Fayre
End of Summer Beer Festival at The Argyll Pub & Kitchen starts today (1st Sept) and runs until Sunday with 30 kegs, 8 casks, 10 ciders and 50 gins to choose from. BBQ Friday & Saturday, and roasts on Sunday.
