Join Chelsea Fringe Henley for the festival’s 10th year of ‘fringe gardening’
The Chelsea Fringe Festival is an alternative festival of flowers, gardens and gardening, usually at the same time as the Chelsea Flower Show. This year is the Tenth Anniversay of The Chelsea Fringe and is taking place from 15th-23rd May.
Chelsea Fringe Henley says it has lined up for this year a virtual walk in a secret garden which has been sheltered by brick and flint walls for over 300 years; an exhibition that brings together work in ceramics, wood and alternative media; floral installations to sit within the stunning grounds of Bristol Botanical Garden and a book launch at our Garden Book Club. Plus workshops galore!
“The Chelsea Fringe Festival is all about harnessing and spreading the excitement and energy that fizzes around gardens and gardening. The idea is to give people the freedom and opportunity to express themselves through the medium of plants and gardens, to open up possibilities and to allow full participation.
Entirely independent of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (though acting with its support), the Fringe usually explodes out of the showground geographically, demographically and conceptually. Its events encompass everything from grassroots community garden projects to avant-garde art installations. Our open-access principle means that just about anything goes – as long as it’s interesting and legal, and on the subject of gardens, flowers, veg-growing or landscape.
The Fringe showcases a wide range of work from professionals and enthusiasts, both from the gardening world and beyond. Contributors create installations, events and experiences, exhibits, talks and walks – and all virtually again this year.”
