It’s all go for the Henley Farm & Country Show
The Henley Farm & Country Show is certainly one of those events in the Henley calendar that is looked forward to every year by so many people and this year will be no different. The show has been running since 1891 and has been one of the largest events in the area and is one of few remaining one day agricultural shows in Oxfordshire.
As with most other large scale events which didn’t happen last year, this year they are having to evaluate and adapt to the current situation to be able to put on the best events they possibly can.
Jo Taylor, Show Manager said, “Henley & District Agricultural Association are working towards our 2021 Henley Farm & Country Show on Saturday 11th September but are currently unable to commit fully to the eventual format of the show. We will do our best to put on as large a show as possible, Covid permitting.
We are looking at how to make the showground and attractions Covid secure should that still be necessary in September. If we are restricted on numbers members and advanced ticket holders will take priority.“
The show is organised by the Henley and District Agricultural Association, a local charity supporting other agriculturally related organisations.
Of the five show rings, the Main Show Ring this year is showing amazing Show Jumping, Light Trade Driving, Livestock, Classic Car and Tractor parades and a Military Band, amongst other things as well as a wonderful display of Heavy Horses. Richard Savoury’s Sheep Show has been a popular attraction in Ring Five, along with a Gun Dog Display and Falconry. The Horticultural Tent has experts available to answer your gardening questions.
Sheep and Cattle Classes highlight many interesting rare breeds and this year for the first time they are hoping to have Pig Classes. A visit to the Poultry Tent is recommended to see a large variety of chickens and ducks. The interactive Food and Farming Marquee is a fun place for children, where they can learn where their food comes from and take part in various activities. There is a Companion Dog Show, entries on the day. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
Many visitors return to Henley Farm & Country Show year after year to do their Christmas Shopping from the varied Trade Stands, the Craft and Shopping Marquees, and the delicious Food and Wine Tent. The highly competitive Produce Tent is full of lovely cakes, flower, fruit, vegetables and art. You can email jo@thehenleyshow.co.uk if you wish to enter.
Over 150 Classic Cars and Vintage Tractors are on display, and the winning exhibitors take part in a Grand Parade in the Main Ring in the afternoon.
