Henley Mayor is on a mission launching the first of four charity events

Henley’s colourful Mayor, Councillor Tom Buckley is changing things up a bit this year when it comes to raising money for his nominated charities NOMAD, Lowland Rescue and The Chiltern Centre.

Instead of the traditional mayoral dinner, The Mayor of Henley-on-Thames, Cllr Tom Buckley, has announced the launch of the Mayor’s Charity Bike Ride, the first in a series of four fundraising events supporting his chosen charities.

Since becoming Mayor in May 2025, Tom has made it his mission to support local families and strengthen the bonds of community that make Henley special. His three charities were chosen because they each represent care in action; helping families in need, supporting young adults with disabilities, and rescuing those in danger.

The Mayor’s Charity Bike Ride will take place on Saturday 15th November 2025, starting at 9:30am from Henley Market Place. The route will take riders through the stunning Henley countryside via quiet roads and bridleways, showcasing the beauty of the local area while raising much-needed funds for the Mayor’s Charities. The ride is suitable for cyclists of most abilities and offers a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors for a good cause.

Tom said, “This bike ride is run in honour of a similar charity event where I met many people I’m now humbled to call friends, but also to showcase the amazing countryside around this beautiful town,” said Mayor Buckley. “It’s a ride suitable for most riders of limited skills, linking the area via quiet roads and bridleways, and the donations will raise much-needed funds for The Mayor’s Charities. If you don’t want to ride, you can also support us in other ways!”

This event marks the first in a series of four charity fundraisers under The Mayor’s Mission, a year-long campaign celebrating Henley’s community spirit through shared experiences and giving.

“The Mayor’s Mission is about bringing people together,” added Mayor Buckley. “It’s about celebrating what makes Henley such a caring town, and turning that goodwill into practical help for others.”
