Henley Children’s Theatre presents Babes in the Wood…Literally
With the latest Government restrictions in place and many pre-christmas November events having been cancelled Experience Henley is delighted to see that the Henley Children’s Theatre production of Babes in the Wood will be going ahead in December and in the fabulous setting of The Railway Museum at Fawley Hill .
There aren’t many pantos where you’ll park in a field, need a map and potentially bump into a wallaby, so we reckon you better get in quick for this one of a kind performance.
Muffin Hurst Director of HCT says that Henley Children’s Theatre is thrilled to have the opportunity to perform the much loved tradition of their annual Pantomime at a brand new, exciting, covid compliant venue. The Railway Museum at Fawley Hill will be transformed in to a magical woodland den set up, complete with stage and lighting, for Babes in the Wood, 21- 23 December.
She says, in true British spirit, and rather “Vicar of Dibley”, come and enjoy Panto as you’ve never seen it before. The seating groups will be socially distanced, and an open door at the rear allows for greater air circulation – the audience is encouraged to embrace this can-do Panto and bring blankets or warm coats. Mulled wine and refreshments will be available in the Station and of course, a mirth giving performance from local children. And who knows, you might spot a wallaby or emu too? This could be a rather crazy, but wonderfully British event! (Keep calm and carry on Panto)
Babes in the Wood tells a story that combines Robin Hood (hooray!) with the Sheriff of Nottingham (boo!) along with elements of Hansel and Gretel. It is a traditional Pantomime performed by local children, with a funny script, toe tapping tunes and oodles of charm. This is family fun at its best, and should be a wonderful Christmas outing sure to warm the cockles.
We are very grateful to Lady Judy McAlpine for this wonderful opportunity. We hope many of you can enjoy some normality this Christmas – if you can ever call Pantomime “normal”?! The HCT family are thrilled to be entertaining you, and we hope to bring some cheer to the end of a rather rotten year.
Tickets are available to book on line at www.henleychildrenstheatre.co.uk.
If the production is unable to go ahead, all tickets will be refunded.
