GAIL’s bakery joins Henley’s lively café scene
The vanishing trick made by Harrods and the H Café, coupled with rapidly installed hoardings caused much interest. We can now safely say that GAIL’s bakery will be setting up shop in Market Place joining an excellent and lively bakery and café scene in Henley.
In the 1990’s Gail Mejia brought the best bakers in London together to bake for the city’s top chefs and restaurants to create a wholesale business The Bread Factory and the first GAIL’s Bakery opened in London’s Hampstead High Street in 2005.
GAIL’s will be offering freshly baked bread and pastries as well as something to grab for lunch such as roast spice cauliflower sandwich or sesame flatbread filled with with El Navarrico lentil hummus, preserved lemon, pickled aubergine and Matbucha. We rather like the sound of their Sticky Date & Coconut Babka Bun inspired by British favourite sticky toffee pudding.
“We bake fresh, handmade bread, pastries and cakes every day, served with our carefully-sourced house blend specialty coffee. We take great pleasure in using the best ingredients we can find for food and drink, using seasonal ingredients from suppliers we trust.
We believe in making good bread. As we’ve grown, so has our menu and our community, yet our values have stayed the same. We take the time to make our bread, pastries, cakes, breakfasts and lunches as we always have – with care, by hand and according to the season – so that we don’t need to compromise on what we eat, whether we’re on the go, or taking time out in one of our bakeries.”
We think that GAIL’s will slot into Henley’s fast growing foodie scene with ease.
