Exhibition: Sailing, Seascapes & Rowing
Jacquie Turner is exhibiting a collection of her new sailing, seascapes, rowing and still life paintings inspired by Henley and Bourne End, the Chiltern hills and Cornwall at the Old Fire Station Gallery between Thursday 9th and Monday 13th September.
About Jacquie Turner
Inspiration comes mainly from my local environment and travels, using photography and sketches to build up ideas. Friends and regular clients occasionally send me photos and cuttings which often trigger visual suggestions which might contribute to a new phase of work. I’ve always enjoyed being out on the water, rowing on the Thames, sailing, and paddling around the Cornish creeks and rivers. All these experiences continue to be hugely influential on my work.
My subjects revolve around Life, Place and Water, but I tend to move through these in phases, using mixed media techniques, acrylic or ink on paper and canvas, quite often returning to a subject phase if something new triggers fresh ideas. I keep all my photos, magazine cuttings and sketches (not in an organised way) and they continue to influence my work as I rediscover them.
There will also be a range of unframed work, limited edition giclee prints and greeting cards, including pre-orders for Christmas.
The gallery will be open between 10.30am and 7.30pm each day
