In a remote fishing village, an ostracised fisherwoman—lonely, overlooked, and quietly yearning for connection—commissions the local basketmaker to weave her a husband. What begins as an act of desperation becomes something extraordinary: the wicker man she receives is not merely a crafted figure but a living, breathing presence with unexpected depth, tenderness, and charm.

As her creation comes to life, the village is thrown into turmoil. His gentle nature and striking uniqueness unsettle long‑standing dynamics, stirring jealousy, fascination, and suspicion among the locals. Old tensions rise, relationships strain, and the community’s fragile equilibrium begins to crack.

Part satire, part folklore fantasy, part romantic drama, Wicker explores themes of belonging, desire, gender roles, and the consequences of creating something—someone—who challenges the boundaries of a small, tightly knit world.

With performances from Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Richard E. Grant and Peter Dinklage, the film blends humour, strangeness, and emotional depth into a modern fable about love, loneliness, and the cost of being different.
