Danesfield House Hotel & Spa will commemorate the 81st anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day on Friday 8th of May with a special afternoon of history, remembrance and community celebration at the historic former site of RAF Medmenham.

Steeped in wartime heritage, Danesfield House played a vital role during the Second World War as the home of the Allied Central Interpretation Unit, when the estate was known as RAF Medmenham. The unit specialised in photographic intelligence and worked closely alongside Bletchley Park, earning its reputation as the ‘eyes’ to Bletchley Park’s ‘ears’.

The commemorative event will invite guests to step back in time and reflect on the significance of VE Day while enjoying a traditional Afternoon Tea, live music and engaging historical displays highlighting the site’s wartime contributions.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore a specially curated photographic exhibition, attend a historical talk detailing the role of Danesfield House during the war and enjoy live musical entertainment in the elegant surroundings of the hotel.
