This Shining Night – Aliquando Chamber Choir
Aliquando Chamber Choir’s concert this year is in aid of ‘Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire’ a team of professional volunteers on call 24/7 to search for high risk vulnerable missing people, support the emergency services, and support Oxfordshire’s vital public services in extreme circumstances.
Entitled ‘This Shining Night‘ it follows the progress of the biblical story from Angel Gabriel’s appearance and message to Mary (Buxtehude’s Magnificat) The Shining Star which led the Shepherds and the three Kings to Bethlehem (Schutz’s The Christmas Story) Praetorius’ – In Dulci Jubilo and Sweelinck’s ‘Hodie Christus Natus est’ and Britten’s most lovely ‘Hymn to the Virgin’.
Soloists, Tenor Alex Haig, Bass Baritone, Daniel Tate and Bass, David Banbury. With String Ensemble led by Amanda Shepherd and Continuo, Ian Westley.
