Heritage Open Days: History of Henley-on-Thames
The River & Rowing Museum will be open for free on the 14th and 15th September to welcome visitors looking to explore the fascinating history of Henley-on-Thames and its relationship to the international sport of rowing.
Visit the River & Rowing Museum for FREE on the 14th and 15th September 2024.
Explore our River, Rowing and Henley galleries to discover the story of this stretch of the River Thames, and visit the Piper Gallery and our Wind in the Willows experience to enjoy the art and literature that was created here. You’ll also get the chance to see exclusive artefacts from the Apollo missions in our new Space Vault temporary exhibition.
Our team of friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to bring our collection to life and talk to visitors about the theme of this year’s Heritage Open Days ‘Routes, Networks and Connections’, such as the story of Henley’s 18th century stone bridge, and the pioneering sculptor who designed the capstones, Anne Seymour-Damer.
And no visit would be complete without a stop in our gift shop or refreshments in our café!
