Café Luxe, the much‑loved independent boutique café nestled within The Relais Henley, has been awarded the licence for the mooring and usage of The Red Lion Lawn, unlocking an exciting new chapter for this iconic riverside space at the foot of Henley Bridge.

Owner Caroline Jobbings, who also owns Luxe Boating, is set to transform the lawn into a stylish, seven‑day‑a‑week summer terrace offering the refined, relaxed experience Café Luxe is known for. Visitors can expect afternoon teas, cakes, sandwiches, artisan coffee, and pours from their champagne partner PIAFF, all served against one of the most picturesque backdrops in the town.

The terrace will echo the elegant interior of Café Luxe, with its distinctive turquoise blue palette, soft detailing, and a stylish contemporary, European feel. Parasols, bistro chairs, and café‑style tables will create a chic setting, perfect for lingering in the sunshine and watching the river drift by.

As part of the new licence, Café Luxe Boating will moor two self‑drive boats and one skippered vessel at The Red Lion Lawn, all available for hire. Guests will be able to take their afternoon tea or champagne aboard and enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Thames, an experience that feels tailor‑made for Henley’s summer season.

Boat hire will also be available to guests of The Relais Henley, adding a premium riverside activity to the hotel’s offering.

Caroline is developing a series of food, drink, dining, and boating packages, designed to make the most of this unique location. She is also partnering with local businesses and organisations to ensure the space becomes a lively, collaborative asset for the town that celebrates Henley’s riverside culture.

With its prime position beside Henley Bridge, The Red Lion Lawn is set to become the place to watch the watery world go by throughout the summer months with it’s many events, including during the internationally renowned Henley Royal Regatta.
