Broo’Skeda authentically Italian
Broo’Skeda, intriguing huh! “Brōō’Skedə” came from an idea between two friends from the same region in Italy who met in Henley and decided to bring their passion for true, authentic Italian food to the town.
Simone and Marco were both born in Naples, Simone moved to Pompeii at a young age where he stayed until the age of 23 and Marco lived his whole life in Nola, Naples until he moved to the UK.
Simone’s passion for food and the hospitality industry started as a child, where he watched his mother and father making delicious food every day, and thanks to them, it gave him his passion to grow up, working in the industry and form his own career in it.
He says, “when I was a kid, my father would explain all the steps of cooking a dish but with a certain passionate tone of voice so it’s something that runs in my blood, that’s why I would love to put my passion into something much bigger, something I can do myself, a business I can be proud of, where I can present my personality and experience”
Growing up in Nola, Marco says that his passion for food comes from there. He says it’s thanks to the climate, soil, good weather, that it produces some of the best prime ingredients in Italy and because of this, his parents always had the right palate for the good home-made and local cuisine.
“The cuisine of our mothers is always the best. In fact, lots of classic Italian dishes are made from secret recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation.
I remember when I was a little boy, my parents used to bring me to local markets to find the best ingredients for the perfect dinner at home, especially when all the family was gathering around the table. It was something deeply profound for them and I”.
At sixteen Marco decided to work in the kitchen as a pizza chef and then, with the need to learn a new language and improve his cooking skills, he followed his brother to work as a chef in the UK at Jamie’s Italian in Reading, with his most recent and longest experience as a Chef has been in Coppa Club, Henley.
“Broo’Skeda’s food is based on Italian cuisine, made with love and passion as our parents and grandparents used to do, not just cooking pasta in a pan but made with love, knowledge and delicious authentic Italian ingredients. The combination of food & drink we offer is a true authentic Italian experience “
So what does the name Broo’Skeda mean? Simone and Marco say it came easily as it was the phonetic way to pronounce the word Bruschetta, a much loved Italian staple food.
Since their launch in May this year, Broo’Skeda have been showcasing their delicious food and skills to the people and businesses of Henley with event catering and private dining experiences.
Broo’Skeda will be hosting their first Italian food pop up at Stable 34 in Hart Street on Friday 11th November.
This will be their official launch to the Henley community with an evening of delicious Italian food, drinks, and music. Tickets are just £15 and can be purchased here Brooskeda @ Stable 34
