Boho Chic: Embracing Vintage Vibes

In the ever-evolving world of fashion, there is one style that continues to capture hearts and headlines: boho chic. I am excited that I will be showcasing lots of great boho vintage finds and as well as tons of re-sale fashion at The Henley Prelovd Fair happening at the Henley Town Hall on Sunday 9th June 3-6pm. Come and join us and get your tickets to shop here

Boho is back with a vengeance this summer (as seen in Chloe AW24 collection and a high street near you) and is rooted in the free-spirited and eclectic fashion of the 1960s and 1970s with a sprinkle of 90’s for modern tastes, mixed in! This aesthetic effortlessly combines vintage elements with a contemporary twist, creating a look that’s both nostalgic and on-trend. The Bohemian spirit also embraces individuality, creativity, and a carefree attitude. Drawing inspiration from the boho movement, which celebrates art, music, and unconventional lifestyles and in fashion form is all about expressing yourself in a way that feels authentic and unique. What’s not to love!

Of course, vintage clothing lies at the heart of this style. For 2024 think chiffon kaftan or flowy maxi dresses and peasant blouses, fringing and relaxed jeans. I love a delicate romantic blouse, tiered maxi skirt or a boldly patterned kimono straight out of the 1960s. Am I ready to revisit those chunky belts too we had in the late 90’s? Let’s see!!

Vintage will ALWAYS deliver for this. Preloved online sites too, are also a great way to shop this look. One of the most appealing aspects of boho chic fashion is its versatility. The key is to experiment and have fun with your style, allowing your creativity to shine through.

I am opening up my little black book to help you shop more sustainably and embrace boho. I work with a few of these brands below, so know how good they are too:

Vintage: I love @peekaboo and its new marketplace which stocks many brilliant global vintage and sustainable brands all in one place. @aubourgvintage and @oohlalavintage @pigsty71 @bumbelina_vintage are all real go-to for me, especially for things floaty. And the awesome @twistedvintage for re-worked accessories. I love visiting fairs and the best of the best is @clerkewellvintagefair every 6 weeks. And @goeastvintage @judyvintage, the Kings Cross car boots run by @hemingwaydesign and of course my own @theprelovd fairs that run twice a year in Henley.

Charity Second Hand: Such a treasure trove and the best is @traid (12 London Stores and online on Depop). Do visit @CharitySuper.Mkt too and its regular pop ups (currently in Glasgow and Brent Cross) which has charity shops all under one roof with a stylish edit. And always have rummage in your high street charity shops of course. I love my local Sue Ryder here in Henley.

Re-Sellers: Lots and lots and you can search for a particular style you like. @positiveretail is both on and offline on the Kent coast. Online @relovedagainth @manifestowoman @vestiarecollective @second_stories are all places I shop. Also, the mighty Vinted and Etsy, but really know what you are looking for, otherwise it’s easy to get caught down a huge boho style rabbit hole!

New: Zimmerman and Chloe for big budgets, Marant, Doen and Anna Mason London for medium budgets and Free People, Anthropologie, Faune, Comhla and Toast for medium to smaller!

I will be back next month for ‘Summer Holiday Style’ and more ‘Read, Follow & Do’ recommendations.
