You may have noticed a subtle transformation at Jack’s Gallery from the refreshed exterior to the artwork gracing its beautiful bay window. That’s because the gallery has a proud new owner, Craig Smith.

Experience Henley popped in to meet Craig and check out the gallery space. With over 20 years experience in the art publishing and gallery world, he is now taking his next steps by owning this lovely independent gallery in Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames. Having got married just a stones throw of the gallery in 2018 and living most of his life within a 10-15 mile radius he says that he has always had a close affinity with the town.

Craig says, that along with Linda who has been at the gallery for over 10 years, the gallery will continue to specialise in the highly collectable artwork of Jack Vettriano but he will also be looking to develop a nostalgic and romantic feel, curating a space that incorporates other artists with similar intrigue.

His desire to create an atmosphere that evokes sentimental feelings of yesteryear are already showing in the gallery with the fantastic pieces on display including artwork featuring classic motorsport or aviation, an influence from his publishing background.

New artists’ work in the gallery include work from the hugely talented Will Seymour who at just 25 years old is a specialist photorealism artist who describes himself as ‘obsessed with drawing portraits and bringing a person to life’. You really need to see these impressive portraits up close.

As Craig’s vision takes shape you’ll feel like you’re being transported to a private members club with that rich velvety romantic vibe, all you’re going to need is coupe of Champagne to muse over the artwork and you’ll be transported.

For Vettriano collectors, the gallery offers a bespoke ‘Print Finder’ service, simply share your wish list and they’ll keep an eye out for the titles you’re after.
