A Chic Little Intervention at Healthium Clinics

There’s a moment, somewhere between blowing out the candles and realising you like actually going to bed before midnight, when turning 50 suddenly feels… empowering. I love getting older and all the wisdom it brings. But my skin was not so great. And I wanted to see what could be done.

I didn’t want the frozen-face era. I wanted the chic French-woman glow with a touch of architectural lift (now just need the French cool wardrobe to match!)

During my consultation, which started with the VISIA Skin Analysis giving me insights into my skin texture, UV damage and wrinkles to assess best approach, we built a plan that felt more couture than clinical:

The Jet Peel felt like standing in a cloud of cool, vitamin-infused mist. You lie down, close your eyes, and the device uses high-pressure air and liquid solutions to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and infuse the skin with active serums. No needles, no downtime, just the sense that your face is being thoroughly reset.

Afterwards, my skin looked clearer and crisper, and honestly, it really needed that deep clean.

Microneedling may sound intimidating, but at Healthium Clinics it felt controlled and precise. A tiny device creates micro-channels in the skin, encouraging collagen, improving texture, and helping the skin repair itself more efficiently.

You wouldn’t go out straight after, I was red (see pic!). But within days, the glow arrived: smoother texture, extra plumpness, a kind of natural brightness that makeup can’t fake. I had two sessions, and I’ll absolutely be back for more. Loved it.

If microneedling was the warm-up, Plexr was the main act, and the one I was secretly most excited about. Plexr is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment that uses a medical plasma device to improve the skin’s appearance and structure. Instead of cutting with a scalpel, the device emits tiny bursts of plasma energy that gently sublimates (vaporise) the surface layer of skin, triggering tightening and fresh collagen production.

My biggest bugbear with getting older? Droopy eyelids. I felt as though I’d lost half an eye, and with genetics stacked against me, I knew it would only get worse. Plexr felt like the little miracle I’d been hoping for, real results, without the cost or commitment of surgery.

Once the numbing cream had taken effect, the clinician used the handheld Plexr pen to create precise micro-dots across the treatment area. These tiny points of plasma energy tighten the skin and stimulate collagen, helping to lift and open up the eyes.

Eyelids

The dots skimmed along my upper lids, tightening the skin and gradually lifting the area over the following months. I had two treatments (July & November), and the difference is real. The lift is soft but noticeable, and I’m thrilled. Results are said to last two to three years.

Cheeks & Jawline

We also worked on the fine lines on my cheeks and the slight softening along my jawline. The treatment helped smooth the texture, refine the lower face, and give my jawline a touch more definition, subtle but genuinely confidence-boosting.

A note on downtime!

This is not a pop-out-for-lunch treatment. My eyes and face swelled for 48 hours both times, and the little dot marks take a few days to fall away. It is more involved but for me it’s absolutely worth it. My eyes are so improved and so happy with the results.

I opted for what Vogue dermatologists call “the suggestion of smoothness.” Not frozen. Not obvious. Just quietly refreshed.

Rosanne at Healthium Clinics applied light Botulinum Toxin sprinkles around my crow’s feet, temples, and jawline- tiny amounts in strategic points that make my face look updated, not weird! The best part? People didn’t ask what I’d done… they just asked if I’d been on holiday. Result.

Over the past six months, my skin has felt firmer, clearer, and more composed.
