Let’s Go Outside…Going Al Fresco in Henley
What a rollercoaster the last twelve months have been and we’re not out the other side yet. But HURRAH, spring is in the air and we can venture out to grab a bite to eat or have a drink al fresco in Henley in the sunshine with our family and friends come April 12th. Is your face going to be pressed up against the window of your favourite pub or restaurant shouting ‘let me in’?
Henley is awash with terraces, pretty pub gardens and courtyards tucked away, but who is open and where to go? Here are twenty places of where to enjoy that well earned pint or glass of wine and something great to eat all within walking distance of the town centre. How lucky are we to have this lot.

20 Market Place – Not only will Crockers have their table and chairs out in the Market Place to soak up all the atmosphere they also have a new outdoor seating area at the rear of the restaurant, the Gardiner Terrace in Gardiner Place. Taking bookings now.
5 Market Place – Tucked away off Market Place is the pretty little courtyard of The Three Tuns, opening on 12th April. With a new website and new menu they are now takings bookings.
10 Market Place – Enjoy a taste of the Algarve in Market Place outside The Square restaurant. Opening on 12th April.
28 Market Place – It’s not all gastro pubs and fine dining, this little gem on the edge of the Market Place serving hot wings, whiskey wings, burger and hot dogs has a cute outdoor courtyard at the back that has recently had a spruce up. The courtyard will be open from 12th April.
15 Market Place – Excitement abound as the newly refurbished Argyll Ale & Cider House opens it’s doors after a full refurbishment of indoors and a 120 seater garden, outside bar and Burger Shack awaits. Focusing on craft beer with 20 kegs lines and 10 cask lines for all you beer lovers out there. Can’t wait to see what it’s like? They are now taking bookings from when they open on 12th April.
57-59 Bell Street – The Bull on Bell Street is re-opening it’s extended covered garden on 12th April. Now taking bookings with food served until 10pm every day except Sundays which is 9pm.
20 Bell Street – The oldest building in Henley is opening it’s doors again from 24th April. There are only 20 spaces available so booking will be necessary.
38 Hart Street – The stretch tent will be back in situ in the large walled garden with their ‘tent snacks’ and pizzas. Open from 12th April.
22 Hart Street – Another little gem of a secret garden tucked away behind Magoos cute frontage. Taking bookings now.
7-15 Hart Street – The impressive old coaching house The Catherine Wheel has been beavering away increasing the size of their outdoor space in the rear courtyard.
21 Hart Street – If it’s pizza or pasta you’re after Zizzi’s will be opening up their outdoor dining spaces from 12th April. Now taking bookings.
40 Hart Street – Giggling Squid will be opening their outdoor dining area from 12th April. Now taking bookings.
New Street – The beautiful courtyard area of Hotel Du Vin will be open for Al Fresco Dining. Seasonal food & drink, wine and cocktails. Takeaway boxes available for spontaneous change of plans or weather. Mon-Sat 6pm-9pm and Sat & Sun 12pm-2.30pm (weather permitting).
Thameside – The outdoor terrace picnic tables for up to six people will be available on a first come first served basis.
Thameside – The Spice Merchant are opening up their courtyard for al fresco lunch & dinner dining. Taking bookings now via their website.
Station Road – The riverside deck at The Bistro will open from Tuesday 13th April for outside dining & watching the boats go by on a first come first served basis. Food served from 10am-7.30pm (deck closes at 9pm).
58 Friday Street – The Anchor outside Garden Restaurant and Beer Garden will be open for business from 12th April. Bookings now open.
37 West Street – Dubbed as The Best Kept Secret in Henley, The Row Barge will be opening up it’s pretty outdoor walled garden from 12th April 12-6pm.
129 Greys Road – This wonderful friendly community pub will be opening from 12th April with plenty of outdoor seating with a covered area.
Remenham Lane -Just over the bridge is the historic Little Angel Pub famous for it’s Bloody Mary Blandy’s. They will be opening up their spacious garden which overlooks the grounds of Henley Cricket Club. Open from 12th April.
90 Reading Road -This lovely family friendly, neighbourhood pub is opening it’s outside areas from April 12th 12pm-10pm Mon-Thurs & Sat 12pm-11pm Fri and 12pm-7pm Sunday.
