The Great Henley Sack Race returns to Henley-on-Thames on Sunday, 22 March 2026, promising another inspiring day of community spirit, environmental action and local pride.

Organised by Henley Town Council and proudly sponsored by The Henley Society, the Great Henley Sack Race is not your traditional race. Instead of hopping to the finish line, participants take to the town’s streets, parks and pathways armed with sacks and litter pickers – collecting litter in a focused, two-hour community clean-up designed to enhance the beauty and ambience of Henley.

Last year’s event saw more than 200 residents of all ages come together to make a visible difference across the town. Volunteers described the day as energetic, uplifting and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when the community works together.

The Great Henley Sack Race offers residents, families, schools, businesses and local groups the chance to play an active role in keeping Henley-on-Thames clean, welcoming and vibrant. Equipment and guidance will be provided, and volunteers can participate individually or as part of a team.

Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or taking part for the first time, everyone is encouraged to sign up and be part of this positive community event. Just two hours can make a remarkable difference.
