Chinese dumpling class with Maureen from Nonya Secrets
The cookery demonstration will be conducted by Nonya Secrets founder, Maureen Suan Neo. She spent most her childhood in Singapore mastering her culinary skills from her mother who taught her the recipes of their Peranakan ancestors.
After more than four decades in the hospitality industry with 4 restaurants, a cookbook and guest chef appearances on ITV’s This Morning and BBC Good Food Show, she now uses her wealth of experience and specialist cookery skill to handmake award-winning, all-natural southeast Asian cooking and curry sauces for her customers to enjoy at home. Maureen also ran a number of cookery classes in her City restaurants for her corporate clients.
Maureen’s class introduces you to two delectable dishes in Nonya Cuisine, Popiah and Laksa. ‘Once you have tasted these two dishes you will begin to understand how amazingly aromatic and deliciously addictive they can be and why many Singaporeans and Malaysians miss and seek out these dishes when travelling abroad’.
The class will focus on how to make Chinese dumplings with various fillings and how to cook and serve it. The dumplings can be steamed, fried and boiled to make into soups and served with soup noodles
