Style Favourites: Shaping Your Favourite Event Outfit with Confidence
There’s magic in that killer outfit! Whether it’s a sequinned gown that makes you feel like a movie star or the tailored suit that whispers sophistication; our go-to event attire isn’t just clothing—it’s an expression of who we are.
I’ve asked some of my favourite ladies (who are friends of mine but who importantly always rock their own style) about their special go-to pieces and some festive faves; Camilla Kay – Acting Executive Editor at Glamour Magazine, Rosie Green – Broadcaster, Author & Assc Beauty Editor at You Magazine, Sally Beaton – Hormonal Nutritionist & Coach and Verity Hawkins-Bekir – Vintage Fashion Founder & Stylist.

Favourite party look – I don’t have all-time favourite outfit. Rather a favourite of the season that I wear on repeat. Currently that is a well-cut jacket and am loving a black or white tuxedo style. At this year’s Glamour Women of the Year awards I wore a black tuxedo jacket with sheer lace skirt and a little tight top moment underneath.
Beauty and Accessory go to – Obviously as a beauty lover I am keen on a beauty accessory. My go to right now is the new Victoria Beckham Reverie fragrance (great for a warm glam spritz for parties). I also love an extravagant shoe moment especially if I am wearing a monochrome look, adding a sparkle, bow or accent colour below.

My favourite dress – My 50th party dress It was a gold Vampires Wife number from the Outnet. I was worried that it wouldn’t work – would be too short or too showy – but it was perfect!
Fave go-to beauty event product – L’Oreal Wonder Water – honestly it turns my straw hair into silk!

My fave go to party style – I’ll often gravitate to an eclectic mix of vintage and new. I this wore to a night out last Christmas. I’m wearing a soft Skims mesh body (the only body I’ve ever worn which is actually comfortable) with high rise, faux leather leggings (from Free People Movement) with a handmade silk vintage 60’s Uzbek robe. I love the vibrant colours and pattern clash! I’m a bit of a trainer addict so topped off with a pair of Nike air max.
Dopamine dressing is real, colour makes me happy. I feel like this outfit is a mixture of sultry, fun and comfortable.
Fave trend for party season in 2024 – Although I don’t dress myself according to current trends at all, I do enjoy following them. Kate Moss heading to the Ritz for her 50th birthday party in her vintage sheer lace maxi dress sets my heart on fire. She’s wrapped a black satin, floor grazing cape over her shoulders and she’s giving goddess vibes.

My favourite party outfit – Anything that’s super OTT but always mixed with something VERY casual. So, it’d be a long a sequin dress, but I’d add a chunky cardigan and converse wedge hi-tops; or a tulle dress but add a leather jacket.
Give me sparkles, ruffles, feathers, ALL the bling BUT I always want to add in a laid back, comfy feel to it. I was obsessed with 90’s supermodels and some of my favourite looks were the Gianni Versace’s 1994 Autumn/Winter campaign. Helena Christensen once wore a long, cream silk dress with a leather jacket for an awards ceremony with Michael Hutchence and I was in love with this look too.
Fave trend or top fashion/beauty product for party season in 2024 – I love the Boho party look which Sienna Miller’s M&S party collection is doing very well (and Lizzie is our Henley’s very own Sienna in my opinion). I also really like the dewy, skin that’s everywhere (not easy in this weather) and for me Nibu Naturals Glow Natural Moisturiser really helps achieve this when our skin is battling the elements and feeling a bit dull.
Here’s how to make every head turn while staying true to your style.
- The Power of the Perfect Fit
The key to rocking any outfit is fit. No matter how stunning the design, if it doesn’t flatter your shape, it won’t deliver. If it fits you like it was made for you, you’ll walk into any room radiating confidence. - Accessories: Your Secret Weapon
Accessories are like the punctuation to our look. A bold necklace can elevate a simple dress. Choose pieces that complement your outfit without overwhelming it. - Makeup & Hair: The Finishing Touch
For glamorous events, smoky eyes or a bold lip can really work. For hair, think about styles that match the event vibe, a sleek bun for elegance or loose waves for romance. - Confidence Is Key
The most fashionable accessory? Confidence. When we feel good in what you’re wearing, it shows. Our energy and attitude are what truly make us and our style unforgettable. - Change it Up
What makes our favourite event outfit truly timeless is its versatility. Can that dress transition from black-tie chic to cocktail-casual with a change of accessories? - Capture it!
Take photos, don’t avoid them! Not only are they great memories, but they’ll also remind you of how you felt wearing your favourite ensemble.
What we wear is an extension of our personality and a celebration of our unique style. Own it and have fun!!
