Anyone who enjoys watching the sun set over a serene river setting get 21st July in your diaries as that is when the popular riverside eating and drinking destination The Lockdown Lodge returns. Another fabulous place to eat in Henley this summer.

Minna Hughes is putting her pop-up event hat back on and says that they are returning to their roots with a more traditional sharing style, she says, “at our inaugural opening in 2020, it was the first opportunity for many to rejoice and relax with their friends after months in lockdown. We want to get back in touch with that sense of community and celebration, and that is why this year’s theme is all about sharing – giving friends and families the chance to connect over sharing platters.

Our menu is varied, as always, and we are fortunate enough to collaborate with many local companies to source our ingredients. This year, we return with our partnership with Christie’s Catering to develop our menu, one that is splurge-worthy!”

From 21st July to 13th August, every Thursday through to Saturday there is a specially selected three course dining menu, and on Sunday afternoon’s a two-course lunch option.

The three course dining menu (available Thurs-Sat evening) begins with grissini, olives and pesto. The sharing platter offers a variety of meat, fish, and vegetable alternatives.

Starter Sharing Board:

• ‘Salt Cod and Chorizo Croquettes with Garlic Mayonnaise’
• ’Hot Smoked Salmon Pate, Green peppercorns and Dill’
• ‘Roasted Pineapple and Chilli Jam’
• ‘Baba Ganoush, Toasted Pine Nuts and Dates’
• ‘Homemade Bread Rolls and Seaweed Butter’

Main Course Sharing Board:

• ‘Crispy Pulled Beef Rib’
• ’28 Day Aged Beef Sirloin’
• ‘Potato Dauphinoise’
• ‘Pickled Shallot and Garlic Potato Salad’
• ‘Carrot, Cumin, Rocket and Yoghurt Salad’
• ‘Cauliflower, Pomegranate, and Toasted Quinoa Salad’

Dessert:

• Duck Egg Custard Raspberry Mille Feuille with Raspberry Sorbet and Italian Meringue

Sunday Lunch, it’s the same, just without the Starter Sharing Board.

And of course there is the bar and street food available throughout the day for walk-ins.

It’s building up to be a brilliant Henley summer that’s for sure.
