Standing with Ukraine One Year On
Friday 24th February marks one year since the Russians invasion into Ukraine. Around 160,000 Ukrainians have been given refuge in the UK over the past year, including many who have been welcomed into our own local community.
St Mary’s Church is hosting a candle-lit hour of prayer, music and reflection for all those who are standing with the local Ukrainian community on this one-year anniversary.
The short service will include spoken contributions from local Ukrainians, local resident and Homes for Ukraine host Dr Krish Kandiah OBE of the Sanctuary Foundation and others. Prayers will be led by Father Jeremy Tayler, rector of St Mary’s Church.
Guests will be invited to light a candle for peace as an act of solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
